Principal position for 2016-2017 school year has been filled!
SJS is so happy to report to you that our “Principal Search” for the next school year is complete! We were fortunate to have solid, qualified candidates apply for the position—and after consultation with the members of the Principal Search Committee—the candidate offered the contract (and accepted) is Mr. Sean Mooney. I am personally grateful to the Search Committee who gave of their time and input in this process: Deacon Kutach, Cindy Goodrich, Carrie Renken, Tim Respondek and Rodney Jahn in coordination with Mr. Quary, our Diocesan Catholic School Superintendent.
Mr. Mooney is a 34 year-old Catholic who was born and raised in New Braunfels. He is a 2006 graduate of Texas A & M (College Station) with a B.S. in Agricultural Leadership Development. He also completed a Masters of Science in Education Curriculum and Instruction in 2013 from Texas A & M (Corpus Christi). He is also completing a second Masters of Arts in History. He has served as an Adjunct Professor with Del Mar College in Corpus as well.
Mr. Mooney is married, and he and his wife (an accountant) welcomed a baby daughter this past year. Both are employed at St. John Paul II Catholic High School in Corpus Christi, Texas. Mr. Mooney has been the United States History/U.S. Government Department head there since July, 2012. Mr. Mooney comes with solid references and a desire to continue in Catholic Education advancing to the role of Administration. He and his wife have been considering relocating to a smaller community and are beginning the transition as they look for a home in our general area. He is excited to be coming to St. Joseph School and being a part of our continued commitment to a solid Catholic Education. He values the role of the faith in education, is committed to a team approach in working with the staff and faculty, understands the importance of communication with everyone involved, and is interested in helping the school achieve a continued public presence in the community.
Mr. Mooney will be joining us as of July 1
st as the Principal. During the month of May there will be a day selected for him to come and meet the student body and faculty. Once this is scheduled all will be informed.
